This is such a flavoursome take on what can be a really high fat food as it is often crumbed and fried.


  • 150g raw squid tubes, or pre cut calamari
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Himalayan pink salt
  • black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp chinese 5 spice


  1. If using squid tubes, slice into calamari rings or pieces and score.
  2. In a bowl, toss the squid with remaining ingredients.
  3. Heat a non stick pan over high heat. Once the pan is nice and hot, cook your squid for about a minute. Remove from the heat and serve.
  4. Serve with your choice of side salad and home made fries.
